CYBER CRIME PREVENTION ACT OF 2012

We cannot deny that the purpose of Sen. Edgardo Angara is essential when he summarized the Cyber crime Prevention Act of 2012. In the time when many Filipino citizens use internet and social media in trade, communication and sharing news to different parts of the world, they need to have a law that would protect their rights in using the internet. We cannot deny that in the development of the technology and  the use of the internet  there are bad people that use this to take advantage and deceit others. Social media is also used to discredit a person who is nothing against him. Canard will easily spread which can make a situation worse.

The world became small because of the technology, communication between families and friends in different parts of the world and obtaining information became easier.

But, the affiliation of using this useful technology is the security of the rights of every user. So it is right to have a law that would make sure the safety of using this technology.

There is a law passed. It is right for us to be happy because our beloved leader have thought of having this such a law. But why do people get angry instead of being happy?

It is because the law that must protect the citizen is the law that is used by the government to overcome our right/freedom of expression. "Likes" in Facebook and "tweets" in Twitter are can be used to send a person in jail. This law will give the government the right to open our private accounts and use this against us. It is right to punish all people who will use the internet in dishonoring others but  it seems like freedom of expression, especially if it is about the things that will affect the society, is forbidden in this law.
